Movie Info

At 67 minutes, Out California Way was some 12 minutes longer than the average Monte Hale western, permitting Republic to promote the film as a "special". It was also the first Republic offering in Trucolor-which in fact was merely the new name for the studio's tried-and-true Magnacolor process. The story concerns the not-so-friendly rivalry between two cowboy film stars, played by Hale and John Dehner. Meanwhile, little Bobby Blake (borrowed from the "Red Ryder" series) endeavors to get his talented horse Pardner into the movies. The Hollywood setting provides a logical means for Republic to feature several of its top western stars-Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Don Barry and Allan Lane-in guest roles.
