Such a film - essentially a two-hander - totally relies on the chemistry of its leads, and the gentle, tentative interplay between Canet and Rohrwacher gels beautifully. Go to Full Review

Director Stéphane Brizé manages to spectacularly intertwine the comedy and tragedy of past and present love to recreate for the audience the cruel beauty of nostalgia, heartbreaks and "what could have been"s that terrorize us all. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Canet and Rohrwacher's performances are the heart of the film and maintain the same understated tone that runs throughout, right down to every detail of the staging. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Out of Season is a film of revealing dialogue, of powerful glances, of scenes resolved in a single take, of silences that speak louder than words. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Laurian D @Laurian Apr 28, 2025 Worth a watch, but this story has been told before and at a much better pace. The acting is top notch but it's unnecessarily long and I almost suggest watching it at 1.25x speed, it would probably make for a more pleasant experience. See more Geraldine T @Geralbean Mar 23, 2025 This film is well made but for me, overall, tedious. Some scenes just go on too long and feel pointless in the overall scheme of the narrative. I felt quite bored as I ploughed my way to the conclusion See more Marco L @decatur555 Jan 27, 2025 This is a delicate romance and a mature reflection on love and second chances. Slow and elegantly shot, it mixes melancholy with restrained emotion, and the experience is deeply intimate and touching. The chemistry between Alba Rohrwacher and Guillaume Canet is the heart of the story. Their performances are subtle and honest, and they convey the characters' emotional complexity without excess. Their looks say as much as the dialogue. Stéphane Brizé, in probably one of his best works, handles universal themes like the passing of time, life choices and the weight of past relationships with great sensitivity. The pace might have been tightened in places, but it suits its contemplative tone. The photography adds elegance, and the smart script keeps you interested without big twists, with dialogue that mixes humor and depth. A mature, thoughtful love story that moves you without turning sappy. Outstanding. See more Mariella B @RT07665349 Jan 1, 2025 Out of Season is a small masterpiece whose strong point is the masterful acting of the two protagonists, both in a state of grace in the roles played. The melancholy of time that passes inexorably and closes the doors to "what perhaps would have been" is punctuated by the dry notes of a piano and the gusts of wind that sweep an inhospitable beach and smooth the sharp stones of a small cliff. Everything is in perfect balance in the stability of adulthood but the vital impetus of feelings is dead, imprisoned in the choice of what is best to do or buried by the fear of jeopardizing the consolidated routine. A wonderful film that I would watch again immediately. Vive la France! See more Sharon T @RT69032255 Dec 24, 2024 Exhaustingly drawn out example of privileged indulgence and justification of breaking trust See more Simon H @RT44059614 Dec 9, 2024 A vapid, pretentious, meandering marathon of a movie with several cameo performances which were difficult to endure. It seemed to last much longer than its advertised running time of 1 hour and 46 minutes, time which we'll never get back. See more Read all reviews
