Movie Info

"Ovation!" is a film about what takes place backstage in the critical week before a theater finds itself economically forced to close. Not only the production--which we never see, only getting glimpses of the actors going on-stage and coming off after curtain calls--but the entire theater complex is under threat of destruction in a secret high-end real estate deal, unknown to the members of the theater company or the play's producer

Plays like an actors' workshop exercise that doesn't know when to quit ...

Ovation is a loving tribute to the theater, to the intoxicating power of live performance and to the bond among performers and crew, from the lighting guy in the booth down to the star on the stage.

July 18, 2016 | Full Review…

[Ovation] is passable fare that might suffice for a rainy-day matinee. But it can't complete with superior films playing around town now.

December 2, 2016 | Rating: 1.5/4 | Full Review…

The real-life theater location gives the picture more production value than is often found in the Jaglomography, and Ovation! is one of his more accessible works overall.
