Violence for violence sake can get pretty repetitive and boring. It's one way to spend 2 hours, but we think Overlord is a bit overdone.

You might hope such a premise would license a wonderfully over-the-top movie, but...the splatter scenes in Julius Avery's film are pretty dull, seemingly designed to impress only young viewers who have never seen anything like them before.
