Although overstated at times, this film provides a fascinating journey into human character through a unique story line and develops more as a novel than a movie. Its implausible premise doesn't impede viewer's insight into its complex characters.

Interesting little film and good to see husband and wife together post All About Eve

This is a story of a man with a troubled marriage who leaves his wife and while on his flight befriends 3 other passangers. The flight goes down and he then feels he must carry messages to their loved ones and in doing so examines his own marriage and life more closely. Fair at best and to much unemotional dialog (that should be emotional). Betty Davis in a role too young for her by this time (1952) and the one shining role was by Shelley Winters who plays a struggling actress turned show girl so very well...she was not enough however to pull this film out of it's doldrums.

A nice movie with good actors and an interesting story about life, love, and friendship. I really recommend seeing it.

Very compelling. A bit cheesy at times with music that is way too strong but is very intriguing.

Intriguing premise and well acted, especially by Shelley Winters. It is a little over dramatic at times but the story is still a good one. I never lost interest.

A man running away from his own life, befriends three people on a plane and learns about their lives. When the three others die from the plane crash, he finds their survivors and touches their lives in some way until he meets one who touches his life. Bette Davis' role is brief, but as always, intoxicating.

Interesting storyline(s), must pay attention or you miss important details. I've seen it twice now & am impressed with Gary Merrill in the lead role. Bette Davis has a small but pivotal role in the film. A great cast!

This is a good melodrama made up of 4 separate stories overlapped by lawyer Gary Merrill as the sole survivor of a plane crash. Each story has a flashback and my favourite is the humourous scene with Shelley Winters as told by the nasty mother-in-law. Bette Davis's turn as the bedridden wife of salesman Keenan Wynn is worth waiting for. Bette's hard earned lesson on true love makes a profound impact on the lawyer, and is the highlight of the film.
