The cinematography is good and the acting is OK but the story is hard to follow and the ending doesn't make sense. I watched this film just yesterday and I am still thinking about it today. 'Piggy' (2022) tells the story of Sara (Laura Galán), an overweight teenager who is the victim of bullying and body shaming at the hands of not just her peers but her small town. Soon after a terrifying incident, her guardian angel appears in the form of a serial killer who seems to have a soft spot for her. This is a very intelligent film that displays social issues and the effects of bullying. It was not as disturbingly gory as I thought that it would be but I was more than okay with that. (I'm a baby) I was immediately taken by the setting and the atmosphere of this film. I was unaware that this was a Spanish film but within the first few minutes, that was completely forgotten. The story is compelling with an appropriate pace where we can get a full understanding of Sara's daily life between working in her family's butcher shop and the terrifying events that she suffers when she steps outside. Despite there being a clear hero of the story, the film creates instances in which you feel sympathy in some way for all of the characters. Laura Galán brings great realism to the role as well as relatability. She struggles to find her safe place in her home where she feels constantly ridiculed. How could she not find happiness amongst the person who showed her an inkling of kindness? (Yes, he killed at least four people but he's handsome.) I highly recommend this film if you're looking for something that'll get your heart rate up in more ways than one. See more Oaklee D @ODie63 11/26/2024 This movie was a absolute chore to try and sit through. The main character had a very woe is me attitude and that makes her so unlikeable. I turned this film off 54 minutes and 15 seconds in because once I saw what happened at that point this film lost me altogether. I tried but I just couldn't bring myself to do it, this movie was a big let down for me and I don't think it's worth wasting the hour and 40 minutes of your life to watch this pile of hot garbage.
