a perfect example for a perfect movie! if you are a fan of pirates, this movie is for you! comes with an excellent plot with perfect actors as awesome characters!
Horror, Adventure, Comedy, Romance, all slammed into one movie and it works. How can you not appreciate that quality of work.
Not quite as good as I remembered…mainly, it's just much too long (and the sequels only get worse in that area). Still, it's pure, unsullied, simple fun that somehow sidesteps being the lazy, cynical cash-grab it should've been; just look Haunted Mansion or Country Bears for reference. And as iconically great Depp is, for my money the real MVP is Rush. "You best start believing in ghost stories, Miss Turner...you're in one!"
This movie is amazing. Its opening act is taught to a lot of filmmakers in school because of how well it teaches the audience a vast amount of information in a clear and efficient way.
very good. very fun. very solid
This is a fun ride, almost as fun as the one at Disneyland.
a timeless masterpiece
This is one of the most underrated movies ever, I say that because it should've been much more critically acclaimed. Johnny Depp is the main reason for that; he steals every scene that he's in and will make you forget he isn't even the main character. The actual main characters mind you, their story is a bit predictable (spoiler alert) they get together in the end, but the chemistry between Kiera Knightly and Orlando Bloom breathes life to an overused love story. If you don't believe that this movie is so good, ask yourself, "Why does Disney keep getting away with making crappy sequels to this?" The answer is because people keep hoping they replicate the magic of this one.
The characters are great with a good script to back them. The action scenes are outstanding and the sgi is great for its time
Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow is brilliant in this first installment, the movie is quite enjoyable.
