Movie Info

Agatha has a problem: is she awake or asleep? Is she dreaming or is this reality? What starts out, innocently enough, as a cocktail party turns into a nightmare when Agatha suddenly finds herself paralyzed from the waist down. Seeking help from an eccentric group of doctors she suffers through a series of sexual and scientific experiments that send her on a journey to another planet: Planet Earth. But is this the same Earth that Agatha is from - or is it the Earth of her dreams?Written by legendary theater artist, Richard Foreman, PLANET EARTH: DREAMS revolves around the desire to escape - not to a Dream world - but to a mode of consciousness in which one is able to function in real life with the same mental freedom the dream mind has available in the realm of sleep. -- © Start Here Films

Critic Reviews for Planet Earth: Dreams

All Critics (7) | Top Critics (5)

  • Most audience members will soon find themselves in a state where they'll be able to compare their own dreams, no doubt favorably, to those on the screen before them.

  • Even the impudently mesmerizing star presence (and songs) of gamine Cynthia Hopkins cannot elevate this surprisingly staid slice of surrealism beyond the realm of the curious.

  • Cryptic but good-looking feature.

  • Isn't very successful at evoking the dream state, but does a good job of inducing it.

    Jul 15, 2004 | Rating: 1.5/5
  • Foreman aficionados may want to keep the curtains of this theater drawn, and listen as his fertile lines suggest what could have been: 'The space between the trees is blank enough for something interesting to happen in it.'

  • One of a kind, turning Foreman trademarks such as self-satirical acting and out-of-nowhere music into powerful elements of an outlandish story.
