Dave K @BilboBagsy 3d It's actully a poorly executed hostage thriller as the children try to navigate an escape from a farmhouse while avoiding being killed by their captors or being fed to an infected. Michelle Dockery plays her role as the film's antagonist incredibly well. She completely sheds her refined role in Downton Abbey and other period dramas to become a nasty, creepy and twisted matriarch and jailor. Her performance is an outstanding and compelling change and it's probably the best thing about the film by far. The storytelling is very predictable and weak, but its biggest problem is that it's not really an apocalypse movie. The film would have worked much better as a typical horror thriller set in reality. Instead it’s a confusing and underdeveloped storyline that's set in a world that isn't where the film is set. Michelle Dockerly gives a captivating performance that shows her amazing range, it's the saving grace of the film. 5 / 10 See more Tomas G @RT82195215 Jun 30 The main cast being children added so much to the movie. It made the intensity of the scenes and my vested interest in the outcome that much more visceral, in a way that scary movies with an "older cast" just cannot replicate. When the kids get into the shoot-out at the gas station....one of the kids gets shot. This makes the kids seek any kind of medical help possible and fast before he bleeds out! They end up knocking at the door of a deranged woman who after tricking the group. Holds them hostage. The kids are forced to escape the torture she inflicts!!!
