Movie Info

This 10th movie in the Pokemon franchise finds Ash and his friends traveling through a Spanish village called Alamos Town, where they come across a scene of unexpected and mysterious devastation. The dark and unknown Pokemon named Darkai rules time, while Palkia rules space, and now that the two of them are staged for battle, the balance of space-time stands on the brink. Now, Alamos Town has been sucked into the Pokemons' universe, and if the town is destroyed, so is the world.

Audience Reviews for Pokemon: The Rise of Darkrai

Another fresh restart of the anime's film series to start-off the Diamond & Pearl series with a predicted level that's less than the previous, superior entry. What comes in this tenth entry is being somewhat less-filled and logical in its own sense of the story while elevated by its meaningful heart, colorful animation and action sequences. (B+) (Full review coming soon - with better wording probably)

Despite having a familiar plot (creature is misunderstood by people and then has to prove itself), what holds up The Rise of Darkrai are its strong morals, character development, clever foreshadowing and not being afraid to get dramatic, but in a believable way. Also kudos to the writers for taking the time to use this movie to set up the plots for two other Pokémon movies. It almost makes me wish that these didn't migrate to DVD after Pokémon Heroes got negative reviews. The only real flaw other than its familiarity is that Alice is kind of bland, but it's not that big of a problem really.

Dialga and Palkia just repeatedly duke it out to the point of boredom, and Darkrai is given a weird dimension of character here, and the awkward CG is still obvious
