Movie Info

Four friends are swept up in a treacherous game of intrigue and betrayal during a Monday night poker game gone terribly awry. Every Monday night, Aaron Tyler (Johnathon Schaech) and his friends get together for a friendly game of poker. They've had the same routine for years, and it's always been a low-key affair. But tonight's game of poker will be anything but routine, because after accidentally killing a burglar who was sneaking into Aaron's house, the boys attempt to cover up the crime by quietly disposing of the corpse. When the dirty deed is done, the friends take a pledge of silence, agreeing to take the secret to their graves. But someone else knows exactly what they've done, and as the murderous game of revenge gets underway, the friends realize that their horror has just begun.

Critic Reviews for The Poker Club

All Critics (3) admittedly slight yet consistently entertaining piece of work...

based on a book, but I imagine that quite a bit got lost in translation from book to script to final film

If you're looking for a good time killer, look elsewhere. The Poker Club fails miserably at everything it attempts to do. Sigh.

Audience Reviews for The Poker Club

This was a twisty-turny thriller that I grabbed for $3 at Big Lots, and I think it was worth about that much, entertainment-wise. The overall set-up of a group of boozy and or stoned friends who accidentally kill a burglar, then hide the body eventually gives way to more of a complex plot behind the scenes, leading me to believe that the novel this was based on might be more interesting, in that it would give you more time within the character's heads. Worth a rental.

Lightweight but entertaining thriller. You won't be pondering it after it's over, but decent story with a pretty good twist in the end.

The plot really isn't bad but the movie didn't do much for me. The acting is unconvincing, the cinematography is amateurish and it just feels like a B-movie.
