In a society ravaged by centuries of war between humans and vampires, a legendary warrior priest (Paul Bettany), a veteran of the last conflict, lives in an enclosed city ruled by the church. When a murderous pack of vampires kidnaps his niece (Lily Collins), the priest breaks his sacred vows and sets out to rescue her before the bloodsuckers put the bite on her. Joining him on his quest are his niece's boyfriend (Cam Gigandet) and a former priestess (Maggie Q) with supernatural fighting skills.

Bettany is a great actor who does melancholy very well, he also has a sense of mischief. It would be nice to see it shine a bit before it, too, fades to grey.

I wouldn't say its the worst movie Ive ever seen. Its more like a low budget B-movie that lived beyond expectations and a little more money was thrown in for the CGI. Gives a little bit of a back story, then just runs with it for the entire movie. Only similarities from the comics is that hes a priest, nothing more. So if you are a fan of the original comics, you'll be truly disappointed to find the adaption is nothing like them. Theres a mixed reaction towards the acting. Some say its great and some say its bad. Its not that bad, it hold up with any other mediocre movie, but certainly ain't that great. I say its fair. Very much of a fantasy horror film, kinda reminds me of a Marvel movie that was made quite some time ago, and hadnt aged well. Think of Ghostrider with Nicolas Cage and how bad it was. Or if the film was a bad Underworld that aged poorly Also felt that they were writing in different parts of the film as they went along with nobreal direction. Was straight to the point
