Blood flows again through the hallowed, haunted halls of Hamilton High in this gory slice-n-dicer. This time the killer is a wacko, homicidal priest who is out for revenge soon after waking up from a three-decade long coma. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

A mildewy little smear of a late slasher film.

Audience Reviews for Prom Night IV: Deliver Us from Evil

When, in the history of ever, has a high school held its prom in the dead of winter? How did the brother make his way to the cabin in the middle of nowhere? How did Father Jonas not age a day in 34 years? Yeah, these gigantic plot holes may have been overlookable (that's a big maybe though) if the movie weren't so impossibly dull.

I didn't know that a Prom Night IV existed. It's not a bad slasher film. (Nicole deBoer from Star Trek DS9 and CUBE is in it!) BUT it does not really belong in the Prom Night series, as most of it takes place at an country estate (former monastery of a mad monk) instead of at a Prom! A psycho priest wakes from a deep coma (those coma scenes were ridiculously long.) and escapes to kill more teens on their Prom night. It's a setup similar to the Halloween movies - the priest even stalks and behaves like Michael Meyers did. The slasher gore is bloody enough with some fiery and head-crushing deaths. There are also some boobies to keep things rolling. The end chase is a bit straightforward, but the old monastery in the wintery woods at night allows for some good atmosphere, even if it isn't at a prom, which sucks for those who chose to watch a "Prom Night" movie. Note: the DVD quality put out by Artisan is lacking, but is probably the best we'll see of this forgotten film.

You know that by the time a franchise reaches the fourth sequel, usually the producers scrap the bottom of the barrel. In the case of Prom Night IV Deliver Us From Evil, this is exactly the case. This is a film that does not succeed in any shape or form whatsoever. The Prom Night series have only two good films in the series, the first two. But the third and fourth entry are absolute garbage. I found the film to be painful to watch in every respect and quite frankly almost a chore. I needed to watch this film so I could review the fourth entry and let people know how shitty it really is. This is the worst of the Prom Night films. The film lacks everything that has made the first two worth watching. This final entry in the Prom Night franchise is a drastic departure from it's predecessors. Like every film in this series, none of them have a specific killer, for example Friday The 13th has Jason, Halloween Michael Myers. This fourth film is a mess with a bad script, bad acting, and poor buildup. If you've seen the first three, then skip this film, it has nothing in common with the original film or its second film, plus the third film was a comedy horror film which was also poorly executed. The film suffers from cliches and predictability, and the element of surprise that makes a good horror film are absent. There could have been something watchable on screen, but unfortunately I consider this a missed opportunity and I view this film as one of the worst horror films ever made.
