It makes absolutely no sense, but it's riveting at the same time. Once it starts, you can't take your eyes off it. It's a pretty solid, straightforward chase scenario and, as much as you tell yourself that it's dumb, it keeps its grip on you.

Proximity may not entirely hold up in the end, but it does make for two hours of reasonably satisfying, if occasionally uneven entertainment, and marks Demeusy as a new talent to watch.

Proximity starts off like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, then becomes George Lucas's THX 1138 before finally morphing into The Day the Earth Stood Still by way of a faith-based film. I liked this crazy little picture a lot.

If you're a hardcore sci-fi devotee, then I recommend seeing this movie. If you're not, I might skip it.
