Movie Info

The story is set on the holy ghats of Ganges Banaras where Kundan sees Joya much before his adolescent and falls in love with her head over heels... Circumstances force Zoya to go to Delhi for further education. A wannabe politician steals her heart, but be aware this is not a run of the mill triangle and just when you expect that now the feel good regular Bollywood romancer will take charge. There is twist which can be anything from a political conspiracy to a joke on the so called paper revolutionaries (social media) revolutionaries who jump in the protest without understanding the root cause of the issue.

  • Somehow, and despite several unrealistic shifts in tone and plot, director Aanand Rai pulls it all together into an appealing mishmash.

  • Raanjhanaa is a love story that has a Shakespearean touch and is mounted on a lavish scale.

  • After the first 10 minutes, I was utterly bowled over by Dhanush's energy and charm.

  • Post interval, it comes unstuck, and squanders its gains. If Raanjhanaa had kept its tone intact, it would have been a great love story.

  • Raanjhanaa is one of the best written films in a while. And one of the best films you'll watch in a while too.

  • Raanjhanaa appears to be a classic Bollywood love story of two young people separated by social divisions. Instead, this is a compelling and somewhat disturbing tale of one man's obsession with love to the detriment of himself and his beloved.
