Somehow, and despite several unrealistic shifts in tone and plot, director Aanand Rai pulls it all together into an appealing mishmash.
Raanjhanaa is a love story that has a Shakespearean touch and is mounted on a lavish scale.
And after the first 10 minutes, I was utterly bowled over by Dhanush's energy and charm.
Raanjhanaa is one of the best written films in a while. And one of the best films you'll watch in a while too.
Raanjhanaa appears to be a classic Bollywood love story of two young people separated by social divisions. Instead, this is a compelling and somewhat disturbing tale of one man's obsession with love to the detriment of himself and his beloved.
