Movie Info

Filmmaker Patrick Mansell traces the Commonwealth's land-grant university from its modest beginnings as the Farmer's High School to one of the world's most dignified and respected institutes of higher learning in this documentary produced by Penn State Public Broadcasting (WPSU-TV). The charter of Farmer's High School was originally adopted in 1855. Thirty presidents, two world wars, a civil war, multiple overseas wars, a Great Depression, a women's suffrage movement, and a civil rights movement later, Penn State has touched nearly every important era and event in American history while evolving into one of the world's leading teaching and research facilities. This is the story of the people and events that have solidified Penn State as a name associated with prestige and honor, as told by the very men and women who helped to build that distinguished reputation. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
