One of the worst scripts put to screen this year and the problems certainly don't stop there.
October 17, 2019
It felt like a rehash of the old, formerly beloved character trying to relive his glory days. Simply put, the franchise has overstayed its welcome.

Last Blood offers a fitting albeit lacklustre conclusion to John Rambo's story.

It's a tough one. It's a decent bit of mindless, blood-soaked fun with a strong performance from Stallone and some decent moments of emotion, which is what you'd expect from Rambo.

The last twenty minutes are gratuitous violence. [Full review in Spanish]

Rambo did such a fine job of rescuing the character from simplistic jingoism that it is almost painful to watch Stallone going back to the well one more time, especially when the narrative justification is simultaneously so weak and so exploitative.

...[a] numbing escapist action thriller. Indeed, this pump and pain-driven spectacle meant to draw some shock value blood is in serious need of a toxic transfusion.

Surprisingly non-terrible.

It's almost as if Stallone himself has killed someone undeserving, just to afford him the opportunity to make the story work.

While Stallone is back and game to dish out the pain, it's safe to say that Rambo's famous Bowie knife has officially dulled.
October 3, 2019
Racist in addition to being offensive in its sadism.
October 2, 2019
Indeed, the majority of the mercifully short running time is spent setting up a bloodthirsty climax that fails to deliver on almost every level, leaving audiences as jaded as the hero himself.
October 2, 2019
Gross, stupid, sleazy, exploitative and almost certainly falsely titled.
October 2, 2019
What should have been a throwback to campy '80s fun ends up being one of 2019's most self-serious bores.

The character deserved better than Last Blood, and so did we.
October 1, 2019
It is definitely the weakest in the franchise, yes, but also... shows that the old heroes never die, even if they have a broken heart. [Full review in Spanish]

Sylvester Stallone's terrible acting is in line with the deplorable tone of the film. [Full Review in Spanish]

From the opening until the inciting event there exists a sort of ramshackle charm to this old soldier facing down his twilight years until the moment Rambo flips back to killing machine. It feels like it has more energy when nothing much happens on-screen

First Blood examined a man grappling with PTSD that's forced into violence. Last Blood, unfortunately, examines a franchise grappling with a shocking lack of relevance.
September 28, 2019
There's little wit, inventiveness or originality to be found anywhere in this tedious picture.
