Movie Info

In this Disney film, based on the novel by Sterling North, young Sterling North's Wisconsin childhood is enriched by his friendship with a stray raccoon. Though lacking the emotional depth of the novel, the film is distinguished by the lovingly detailed outdoor photography that has always been a Disney hallmark.

Walt Disney Productions, after adapting (Sterling) North's book, gives us a raccoon so talented that you wonder if Gentle Ben and Flipper aren't under-achievers.

Audience Reviews for Rascal

A beautifully filmed Disney movie in the great outdoors. A boy befriends a raccoon, and they get into some mischief. It has that classic Disney feel! (First full viewing - In my mid-twenties)

The heart-warming story of a boy and his raccoon is always better in book form. Oh, and Wowser is a St. Bernard in the book.
