"Red without Blue" is a partially engrossing documentary about changes in life and how nothing ever turns out the way we think it will. By the time twin brothers Mark and Alex Farley have become adults, they are both out of the closet as gay men, barely surviving the macho culture of their native Missoula, Montana.(Where men are real men. Ammunition is sold at Walmart. And a stag's head welcomes visitors at the local airport.) Mark is now Oliver and living in San Francisco as an artist. Alex is now Clair, a pre-op transsexual and student living in New York, who ponders gender reassignment surgery which puts a strain on her friendship with her brother.
