Is the film good? Oh, definitely not. It is a trope-laden, visual mess with too much slow-mo and a dash of terrible CGI. It was a stupid, dumb movie that I loved wholeheartedly.

[T]his is still somewhere in the top half of Robin Hood adaptations, just for its energy and radical relevance

It's entertaining, yes, but it takes more than Egerton's aim and charm to turn this movie into a saga. [Full review in Spanish]

Expecting not much, I walked home happy enough.

It's all tongue-in-cheek nonsense, but executed with flair and verve by debut feature director Otto Bathurst.

I ended up really enjoying it...and looking forward to the sequel we are clearly being prepared for. Sherwood Forest and all.

In the end, this is an overacted, over-styled comedy, and therefore quite enjoyable. The action scenes are spectacular...

The movie is not unpleasant. But it is very, very, very dumb. It's so dumb that it will be a good 20 or so years before anyone dares to make a Robin Hood movie again, which really sucks, because the Robin Hood story is legitimately awesome.

While it plays fast and loose with loaded political iconography, this Robin Hood has brought a whole new dimension to this age-old tale.

Unlike its dashing hero, Bathurst's film doesn't hit all of its intended targets but it comes close enough to entertain.

The latest stab at one of England's favourite folk heroes is a deliciously punked out, hyped up, super-charged action flick...Hook into the crazy swing of the film and you're in for a sweet ride.

Robin Hood doesn't strive to be anything more than it is, a nice little popcorn movie that you don't have to take seriously and serves as a distraction to life's outside worries, on that level it largely succeeds.

It may be stupid, but it's never dull.

Though in need of a stronger villain, Robin Hood is a rollicking good time with a blast of a cast in tow. Taron Egerton has plenty of swash in his buckle, and Jamie Foxx brings the audience to life.

Bathurst & Co. have created one of the better pure popcorn movies of the year, and that's a pretty impressive feat for a movie nobody really wanted in the first place.

Robin Hood modernizes the classic story with some new ideas that don't always work, but the tale of an outlaw hero is buoyed by Taron Egerton's charm.

I expect many of the film's worst reviews to come from critics disappointed that Robin Hood isn't the laughingly-bad disaster so many were expecting.

It's not mind-blowing, but it is fun.

Robin Hood does feel very much a product of its time, with fun performances and kinetic action thrown into the mix, it feels as if it had to crib from another landmark franchise to do so.
