if you like musical, this is perfect

The acting is wooden and the film feels like an infomercial in style the first quarter of a hour. It is however a nice time capsule for the bands depicted and their music whilst attempting to tell a story of the rise of the music genre. It does this well enough but it's a very simple plot to represent it.

a very simple story, yet a fun movie to watch, especially for the performances. after all that all it was, a way to exploit rock and roll and make money off of the teenagers of its time

If you can tune out the corny story, the music is a good trip down memory lane.

Fun flick that loosely portrays some of how rock and roll came to the forefront of popular music. The artists may be lip-synching, but that doesn't take away from the classiness - and Allan Freed plays himself!! Bonus! Several full songs are well filmed with both the bands and the *crazy* dance moves featured. The rest of the film mirrors the business side of a budding new slant within the music business. The more things change....

The acting was awful (if you can call it 'acting'), and the dialogue was incredibly dated. However, the music was terrific, and is really the reason the movie was made anyway. Listen up, kids, THIS is what real music sounds like- not the crap you all listen to now.

Eh, it's passable but I prefer the companion film, Don't Knock The Rock.

A great feel good kind of movie. It was awesome to see Bill Haley and the Comets in action. The dancers in this movie were amazing!!!

Jesus Christ, Bill Haley is one uncool guy. While Elvis is no longer controversial at all, he still comes off as cool when you see old footage of him. Bill Haley, on the other hand, comes off like a lame middle-age white dude who finds Elvis to be "totally crazy".

Also: the age difference with love interests back in the day is kind of creepy. Why can't you just cast a dude who's not twice as old as his female counterpart?

Watchable only if you're interested in seeing one of the original rock and roll bands -- Bill Haley and the Comets -- in action. Otherwise, it's terribly dated and almost painful to sit through. It's hard to believe that bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who and Metallica could have evolved from this. But they did, and as square as they seem today, the Comets deserve a little respect.
