Movie Info

The musicians of Magik, a four-member Indian rock band, haven't exactly led a charmed life; though they draw enthusiastic audience responses time and again, their initial tenure together yields only the most limited commercial success, prompting the boys to split up and go their separate ways. As time passes, however, the men - KD (Purab Kohli, Adi (Farhan, Joe (Arjun) and Rob (Luke Kenny) remain unshakably connected to their craft and emotionally bound to one another, courtesy of a shared passion for rock 'n' roll. And eventually, fate draws them back together, 10 years later, for one final gig. Bollywood stalwart Abhishek Kapoor helms. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

A great movie about music, comparable to those produced in any country, any time. I think Farhan Akhtar brings his particular golden touch to whichever project he's in. The songs are good (always helps), the men look fantastic (Rampal smouldering as a Goanese axeman, Akhtar looking lean and dangerous, Luke Kenny with short blonde hair!) and Koel Purie (the multibillionaire heiress of India) does an amusing cameo. As a film about the lost dreams of youth, I think this film has few parallels in modern Indian cinema. I recalled my own days back in 1990s - visiting the shows of bands like Chakraview (they perform in this film!), Parikrama, Pentagram, etc. They played the good old rock, covers sure, and with a refreshing naivete which is forever lost in sophisticated New India.
