Writer Robin Schiff, adapting her own play, is terrific at permitting her protagonists to drive the film rather than place them into a film she's already worked out.

Robin Schiff's screenplay is filled with memorable zings ("You're just as cute as me," Michele assures Romy. "In some cultures, maybe even cuter."), Sorvino and Kudrow are an irresistible team, and Janeane Garofalo shows up to steal scenes with aplomb.

Kudrow and Sorvino are fun to watch, Garafalo is deliciously acerbic, and the whole Valley Girl reunion thing is a stroke of light-and-fluffy genius.

I just can't resist stories about misfits, even as slight and forgettable as this one.

At its best when it's being lighthearted and at its weakest when it takes a halfhearted stab at semi-seriousness.

A one-joke story that's better crafted than it really deserves to be.

Isn't so much a movie as an overly long pilot episode of some new "Must See TV'' sitcom.

For all its bright moments, 91 minutes turns out to be more than this joke can sustain.

A delicious comedy about bitchiness, oneupwomanship and those emotional scars left from high school days.

While the pace gets a little choppy as the film moves into fantasy scenes for longer than we'd really like, most of the film is Grade A hilarious.
