Movie Info

"ROOTED in PEACE" challenges viewers to examine their values as Americans and human beings. Today we are at war within ourselves, with our environment, and with the world. Director and award-winning filmmaker, Greg Reitman takes us on film journey to take notice, stop the cycle of violence, and proactively seek ways to find personal and geopolitical balance. Relying on memoir but also interviews with such luminaries and activists as Deepak Chopra, music legends Donovan, Mike Love and Pete Seeger, film director David Lynch, Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire, Ted Turner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, neuroscientist Dan Seigel and many others, Reitman heeds former guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's words: "If the forest is to be green, every tree must be green, if there's going to be Peace on earth than everybody must need to feel that quality of Peace." Reitman poses the basic question: How do we want to live? And asks viewers to do the same.

The film is not without its trenchant moments, most rooted not in peace but in science.

While its own roots never go quite as deep as they might, there's still something goofily endearing about seeing Reitman, armed with that trusty bonsai, traipsing around the country on a healing mission.

Potent, hopeful and enlightening. It can change the way you think about at the world and the symbiosis of man and nature.
