Anyone who just brushes this aside as another action film needs to watch it again because it has a solid cast, a good story with several layers. It's a film about love of family and loyalty to a team but what happens when vengeance takes priority.
Between so much violent distraction and visual excess (everything conveniently watered of shootings and persecutions), the film almost manages to hide a slow, confused and poorly developed plot. Because if at the beginning the family, the honor, the loyalty and the presumable revenge of the protagonist directed the argument, shortly after they vanish in favor of the betrayal and the intrigue without getting to execute with precision neither the one nor the other.
As same as most Arnold movies that focus on gunfights without solid story, action part was pretty good, but the performance & story were poor, Arnold's team were killed one by one In a brutal way, but I didn't see any reaction from Arnold or his team!!! Also at the end, the truth revealed by a silly conversation between Arnold & Mireille while she was dying!! Really!! One of the worst twist I have ever seen.
If you just want to watch a gunfight movie and you don't care about the story, you can watch it.
Sabotage's welcomed brutality and intentionally unlikable characters make an action thriller I can't help but enjoy.
Schwarzenegger's subordinate low-key action flick (third film after retiring from Governor) was a little bit better than expected. SABOTAGE'S mercenary plotline falls slightly below the benchmark that separates B-movie cinema from mainstream; nevertheless, it still manages to hold the merit of a great "shoot-em-up mystery" from the start of the new millennium.
I'm a lifelong arnie fan. And although this is one of his films past his best era. it is.. for me one of the best films he has been in. good script. always keeps you guessing. and unlike some other good scripted films a great ending.
Film was... kind of pointless.

This film is a complete mess, and a grisly one! not for the faint hearted. This capped an unsuccessful return for the Austrian oak.
He is without doubt the best thing in this film and delivers a very convincing performance. He did not deserve this film.
The main problem here is David Ayer, The director. From watching this movie it looks there was no script and he let the actors improvise. Its a mess from the huge tone switch in the first 25 mins to the lack of any believable performances from what is a very good supporting cast.
Nothing makes sense and when you get to the predictable conclusion you don't care.
Schwarzenegger is pretty decent, but the rest of the film around him is inane and pointless.
