Plaza and Duplass are enormously watchable, and there's a sweet sadness in the movie's focus on lost dreams and missed chances, and the truism that we all long for a time machine every once in a while.

Safety Not Guaranteed is droll and hilarious, but there isn't a cheap laugh in it, and the ending is so perfect it sends you soaring.

"Safety" can't sustain its own offbeat energy. By the end, even Aubrey Plaza would roll her eyes at it.

Audience Reviews for Safety Not Guaranteed

Extremely amusing, entertaining and quirky comedy about reporters following the story of a man searching for an aide in time travelling. That's not as much based in Sci-Fi as it sounds, but can rely on great performances and interesting characters. Unfortunately the ending comes a little sudden, while you would have loved to follow those characters around a little longer. No wonder director Trevorrow went on to much bigger films soon after this.

A personality piece of a sci-fi story: a guy advertises for a partner to go time traveling with. An indie rag decides to look into the possible story by sending one reporter and two interns to look into it. What's really up for grabs though is the idea that all of us have the experience of the-one-that-got-away, the regret inherent with that, and the consideration: would we go back if we could? It's a personality piece cause that's what keeps us in the tale, the personalities involved, and not the time travel angle at all. It's not bad at all.

Got to admit, nearly gave up on this early on. Glad I persevered. Strange little movie about an unlikely pair getting together. I was so happy with the ending as I really feared it was going to turn out the other way and I si didn't want it to. Yes, this movie got me to care!

An adorable indie movie with charming characters (Plaza and Duplass have a great chemistry together), but it almost gets ruined by how Jeff's subplot is discarded without much thought into it and by a disappointing end that comes off as meaningless and inconsistent.
