Audience Reviews for Sangre de mayo

this film tries to tell too much, albeit in a vivid & somewhat effective way, but the overall effect feels like an extended history lesson of the spanish resistance to Napoleon's armies on that fateful day. Too bad director Garci isn't as good a revolutionist/ary storyteller as Boublil/Schonberg or perhaps the text just pales in comparison to Hugo's. Nice background music and overall costumes/sets/lighting -- though the combined effect is a bit too conducive for slumber
