In its search for Sheela Birnstiel, the documentary doesn't get anywhere. In the workmanlike and uncritical assembly of footage, there is no indication that the film ever intended to. Go to Full Review

Empty and fawning, Searching for Sheela offers as much insight into Ma Anand Sheela as might be gleaned by staring at a wall for its entire runtime. Go to Full Review

04/24/2021 it is a disturbing glorifing attempt to a self pittieing lady. Low on insight high on poses with pretinsuos celebritiesand. Filled with shallow interviews. See more 04/24/2021 We learn nothing new in this "documentary". The entire premise is that Sheela returns to India and side steps all questions. The movie documents all of the times Sheela refuses to talk about the past because she served jail time. Sheela could have released a two sentence statement instead of doing an entire movie. Don't waste your time watching this. See more 04/22/2021 An hour long bland and superficial documentary about Sheela. It does not really delve into the kind of person Sheela is or on her exploits in Rajneeshpuram inspite of mountains of evidence of criminal acts done by her. The documentary features Karan Johar, the usual suspect of bollywood gossipy drama and who is also happens to be producer of this documentary. The documentary also features some media journalists taking a soft stance on her probably because she's septuagenarian. Her responses are mostly wishy washy. It's only in India that you make heroes out of goons. See more Read all reviews
