Audience Reviews for Sesame Street - Christmas Eve on Sesame Street

"Christmas Eve on Sesame Street" is a perfect example of a well done christmas special. You'll get to see all your favorite muppets Ernie, Bert, Big Bird, Oscar, Cookie Monster, The Count, Grover, Snuffy and Kermit the Frog. The beginning may seem kind of creepy (using full bodied ice-skaters) with Ernie's "departed legs" prank while barrel jumping, Big Bird silently dancing to "Feliz Navida" and Oscar being thrown through a wall and tumbles down a flight of stairs. The plot is the basic "Is Santa Claus Real" type of story. The sub-plots are really interesting to watch such as Cookie Monster trying to communicate with Santa to ask for cookies for Christmas, but on all three attempts he gets so carried away with thinking about what sort of cookies Santa will bring him, that he winds up eating a pencil, typewriter, and telephone. And Ernie and Bert re-enact O. Henry's classic story "The Gift of the Magi" and, with the help of Mr. Hooper, learn a valuable lesson about generosity. This special was made during 1978 where the Old School Sesame Street value (1969-1979) would end two years later in 1980.
