Alicea 01/09/2025 The CGI made me wanna scream. The only reason why I gave it this rating is that I could watch through it to see the story. But, of course I could tell it was cheap. See more Matthew H 05/26/2024 Great script poor over the top background music. Appaling CGI. Especially the divers scene almost insults intelligence. Infact Thunderbirds had more believible scenes. Even gun shots have fake fire coming out of them. We all await a new Jaws movie withe zero CGI I thinlk. My wife said lits of zooming in scenes on girls crotches put her off. See more 04/12/2020 Let me start off by saying that Shark Lake is a good movie. It's entertaining, exciting, and for the most part the acting is good. That being said, the sharks and gore look really fake, and the police characters are bad. They don't follow any kind of police protocol I'm aware of and they seem entirely incompetent. There also isn't enough Lundgren vs. shark which is the whole reason I watched the movie, but I love shark movies and this one is pretty decent so I'm happy I watched it. See more dustin d 12/30/2018 Shark Lake is basically a crappy version of Jaws. It is pretty easy to match up the characters with the Jaws counterparts--a shark expert even turns up out of the blue. There is a comment on the scientist's small boat, which may or may not have been a nod to the "We're gonna need a bigger boat" line from Jaws. The writing is laughably bad, nothing the characters do makes much sense (the sheriffs think the man who was killed in the water was mauled by a bear, a deputy adopts the daughter of a man she shot, gets upset when he legally turns up, the mob expects delivery of the shark they paid Dolph Lundgren to get even after he spent five years in prison for smuggling exotic animals, Dolph Lundgren kills a deputy toward the end, is never questioned, the sharks are mindless killing machines and behave nothing like sharks). The CGI is crappy. It gets a pass on a lot of these things for the overall sincerity of the film. It came off as amateurish, but an honest attempt to make a shark movie.
