By now we've seen so many good, bad, and indifferent Sherlocks that it's almost a relief to get something different, however wrongheaded. And there's no such thing as too much Downey.

Love RDJr but Alan Rickman would have been far better in the role.

I love Alan Rickman, but I could not see him pulling this off. He does sarcasm, and while not dumb, of course, Rickman lacks the charisma and smarts that Downey brought to this role. Not to mention, the chemistry with Law would be missing, as well.
