Movie Info

This exciting historical drama is very loosely based on a true incident that occurred in 1911. It concerns a group of Russian anarchists lead by a taciturn, desperate man who will do anything to garner financial support for his political cause, even if it involves theft and murder. One night, he meets a young woman, a Russian orphan, singing in a nightclub. She is at first attracted to him, but ultimately is repelled by his cruelty and callous attitude toward human life. He argues for himself by claiming that his group's actions are justified because they are trying to eradicate political oppression. Meanwhile, a British police inspector closely dogs the gang. He goes undercover and meets the girl. As he gets to know her, he comes to understand the lure of the anarchists. Still the group persists with its terrorist acts until Jan. 3, 1911 when the police surround their lair and raid them.
