The first Silent Hill video game adaption has been kinda reinterpreted as one of the better video game movie adaptions of all time over the years. Which, admittedly, isn’t really saying all that much, but it is a solid time with some pretty decent characters, a menacing villain, and some pretty impressive production design and visuals, for the time. It’s also surprisingly dark and violent, and effectively kind of messed up at points in what it’s going for. And, while I haven’t played any of the Silent Hill video games (as a point of reference), I’d say this film, in and of itself, did a pretty good job in exploring its central themes and ideas within the story. I can’t really compare it to the games since I haven’t played them, but according to the fans, I think this film does a better job at it than most. It’s pretty flawed, too. But taking it on its own terms, I think it’s a pretty solid video adaption. See more Jack F @MovieFan111 Mar 10 I watched it before I new it came from a video game. That piano riff is one of the most chilling pieces to provide disturbing atmosphere in any movie I've seen. I used to cite this movie as my favorite horror movie. I need a rewatch. So many disturbing images to be seen in this movie. The second one isn't as good, but if you're a fan, you should watch it. PYRAMID HEAD!!!!!!!! See more Lauren S @MONKS85 Feb 22 I watched this in the theater in 2006. THAT was an experience. The movie still holds up today. Cybil and Rose are just about the two hottest heroines ever. This film is disturbing, not just in it's hellish, gory imagery, but in it's mysteriously slow unveiling of an act committed against a child that is so demonic that the child took on an uber demonic nature that far surpassed her offenders. See more Stephen G @patient1 Feb 12 First watch, I was impressed with the attempt at keeping the film terrifyingly spooky and keeping you on edge at what could come next. The creature effects are too notch creepy and the imagery of what we're seeing will Haunt some, if lucky. I really enjoyed the game in total Darkness and with the sound coming through my stereo with the bass deep enough to feel their foot steps. I'm always ready for the 100th+ watch.
