Movie Info

Not to be confused with Steven Spielberg's sequel to Jurassic Park, this fantasy adventure (also known as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Lost World) also centers on dinosaurs discovered in the modern world, this time in a remote part of Mongolia during the 1930s. Apparently the ancient creatures were flash-frozen millions of years ago and then thawed out. The late explorer Dr. George Challenger (Patrick Bergin) discovered them. Now his daughter, a journalist, an aging scientist, and a villain team up to prove Dr Challenger's findings. During their journey, the team encounters many fantastical things, including a tribe of Neanderthals. This feature contains a few gory scenes that may be unsuitable for young children.

Audience Reviews for The Lost World

A virtually unknown dinosaur film based loosely on the novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Perhaps its my childhood nostalgia that makes me love this bizarre and violent R-rated dinosaur film, but then again, I enjoy a lot of films people hate. For a low-budget adventure film I had a great time watching it and I also really enjoyed how bizarre it was thanks to odd special effects, cheesy but fun dialogue and storytelling, and dinosaur carnage. I urge people to at least give this film a chance (And stop mistaking it for some other crappy films with similar names) because I really don't think it's as bad as people say it is.

Low budget special effects. Though charming at times really just makes your film resemble a rusty Pinto sitting next to a CGI Ferrari. Patrick Bergin is NOT an acting lead, otherwise the guy would've been in a lot more movies. Not a completely terrible film but not so-so, either.
