Audience Reviews for Something Is Killing Tate
Interesting independent film written and directed by Leon Lozano. This drama is about a man struggling with depression stemming from a tortured childhood, he attempts to kill himself because he can't live with what he was forced to do as a child and the haunting memory of a sister he wishes he could have protected. He also has to deal with a mother in denial, a beautiful fiance, and two best friends who care about him...all of whom don't understand the gravity of what's going on with him or know how to help him. It's a bit slow but it's real. Good performances for the most part; especially by Jocko Sims ["Crash" the series], Kevin Nichols, Aliza Pearl, and Robin Dionne Smith. Great ending, I don't want to give it away but Tate confronts what drove him to this point. Overall it's a compelling film, worth a watch if you can get past how low-budget it is.
This was something found randomly on Netflix. The synopsis sounded interesting and it wasn't too long, so what the hell. I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It had a few twists in the end I wasn't expecting and got a little vengeance satisfied by. A nicely dramatic movie, the only thing missing story-wise is a proper catalysis for the story.
An African-American independent film that actually rings true. Terrific dramatic performance by Jocko Sims.
