TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 27 Somnium (2017) is an ambitious horror concept that utterly fails to deliver. From start to finish, the film feels flat, unbelievable, and disconnected, lacking any real tension or engagement. The costumes and creature designs are laughably fake, stripping the movie of even the slightest sense of realism or menace. The director seems complacent, never striving to elevate the material beyond its minimal potential, leaving the film feeling amateurish throughout. The screenplay is equally disastrous—disjointed, shallow, and completely devoid of compelling storytelling. The narrative fails to build suspense or cohesion, and the characters are poorly written and unrelatable. The cast’s performances are uninspired and unconvincing, adding nothing to what little potential existed.
