Movie Info

Hoot Gibson stars as an ex-sheriff, currently making his living as a travelling rodeo star. During one tour, Gibson is reunited with his brother, who is trying to save heroine Doris Hill from losing her ranch to villain Hooper Atchley. In his efforts to help his bro' out, the old Hooter signs on at the ranch, posing as a dimwitted dishwasher. Having thus thrown the bad guys off the track, our hero is able to get the drop on them when they finally make their move. Like many of Hoot Gibson's early-talkie vehicles, Spirit of the West contains as much comedy as traditional western action.
