Audience Reviews for Splinters (Drzazgi)

I saw this at the Cleveland International Film Fest. Robert (Pawlicki) and his buddies roam their town with the sole goal of making it to a soccer game. Robert is also carrying on an affair with an older married woman. In fact he steals money from her to pay admissions to the game and is generally not a very likable guy. Marta (Piechota) is engaged to be married. Her parents are not great examples since they are both having affairs with other people, but she still wants to hold out for true love and not settle for the son of her father's business partner. Bartek (Hycnar) has a music background, but has gone to school to become a research biologist. His girlfriend wants their relationship to take the next step, but Bartek has been accepted for a research position in Boston. Does he go to the states for his career, or stay in Poland to start a family? It may not be up to him. The three stories intersect with a few surprises. The performances are pretty good, however some are a bit over the top. And some of the plot occurrences are a bit cliched or strained.
