Audience Reviews for Ssaki (Mammals)
A very funny short that deals with the issue of getting out of work. When there is a delay there's different music then the tune played when one is working. In less then 15 minutes you could feel the characters feelings. I personally even began rooting for one of them. It ended up kinda being like Spy vs Spy from Mad comics. Exhibited Polanski's natural film making talents.
This was Polanski's second short after film school, and his final short to be made before he embarked on a career doing features. Like a lot of his early stuff, it's got some really good music, and it is a fun little romp. The snowy setting looks good, and it's hard not to be able to relate to two guys and their shenanigans with a sled (unless you've never played around in snow before).
Charming slapstick comedy against a beautiful snowy backdrop. It features probably the greatest score Krzysztof Komeda ever wrote for any Polanski short film, following each action and reaction of the two men who are trying to reach some point, equipped only with one sled and lots of selfishness.
