A fun B movie satire!

It was better than the second one, but still pretty crappy.

Starship Troopers 3: Marauder may not have been as good as the original. but it definitely still had its political satire & humor intact & had a few good new ideas going for it. very entertaining & full of action too.

As bad as the second one, but with a sudden off putting religious bent. You'd really need to like your cheese stinky to give this one a try.

an improvement over hero of the federation but still lacked that certain something from the original

Okay, so the budget's obviously smaller for this one than the first (I haven't even seen the second) which makes the battle scenes less visceral, but the satire has been cranked way up, making this in certain ways more entertaining than the original. Casper Van Dien is wrinklier and more weathered, meaning his prettiness is less blinding than before, and he's actually gotten better at acting, too. Jolene Blalock does well -- I'm not used to seeing her smile, so it's quite a shock when she puts on a massive grin the moment she arrives on screen. The other cast are all okay, but this one's all about the script. And it's hilarious. It's a bit of a shame a lot of people don't seem to get that these movies are about more than just cool special effects, and that bad effects don't necessarily make a bad movie. Not true. Go Ed.

Marauder is a pretty bad film if you don't take budget into account. If you take budget into account, Marauder at times is almost as good as the original in terms of parody. Like the first Starship Troopers, Marauder takes modern military in the United States and creates a spoof of the times and today's headlines. The idea that soldiers are just expendable pieces on the board and nothing less, the ideas behind the funding of the military going into all of the wrong places, etc. They even tackle the whole government overreach, and religion among other themes. At times the spoof is really funny and well done, but then there's the rest of the movie with special effects that go from decent to shitty in .5 seconds. The acting is terrible, the script appears to have been written by a Kirk Cameron/George Lucas hybrid, and the choreography is just as good as Sean Connery's last fight scenes in the film League of Extraordinary Gentleman. This film isn't good--but it's not entirely bad either and is kind of funny from time to time.

Worth a watch. Nice to see Johnny Rico back and they're fighting the bugs again. People complained about this one too, but what you have to realize, this had maybe 1/5th of the budget the first one had. The religious tone of this movie I think could throw some people off from it, I found it tiresome, but it didn't make the movie horrible. The CG was really bad, but you could see they didn't have much to work with. Overall, like I said, worth a watch.

So bad that I didn't even bother watching it to the end.

Sick. Stellar poor acting.

Calling this movie a disaster would be an understatement.

Whereas the first movie shows glimpses of Federation totalitarianism, this one brings its corruption to the forefront. I like this theme, as well as the continued inclusion of the goofy propaganda ads.

(Mild spoilers ahead...)

I'm dissatisfied with the film's ending. The most disheartening aspect is that Rico and his pals continue to fight for the Federation machine, despite nearly becoming its victims a short while earlier.

Interestingly, this film starts to make some positive statements about religious freedom, but then leaves off with the idea that the Federation will probably screw things up and instate a theocracy anyway.

An improvement over the somewhat lacking second film. The MI powered armor finally makes it's appearance.

I never really warmed up to the whole "Starship Troopers" franchice, even if the first film deserved credid for equating patriotism with totalitarianism in such a cunning manner. The fascinating connotations offered by the premise are a bit loose upon all the randomness that mekes up even the first installment. In "Marauders" we meet Rico again, but the tone is a bit different from the first film. This time our Nazi-equivalent human army is presented heroically in a way that doesn't seem sufficiently chilling or ironic to me.

Viewed by itself this flick is barely tolerable low-budget futuristic action, viewed as a continuation to the series it seems almost distasteful, but not in a particularly smart or effective way.

Very disappointing sequel. The film is let down mainly due to the generally poor acting, rubbish dialogue and mediocre special effects. It is good though to see Casper Van Dien reprising his role from the first movie and is pretty much the only decent actor in the film. Some of the action is fun too but there just isn't anywhere near enough to match the excitement of the first Starship Troopers. The finale is hyped up a little to much and is way to short and considering the "Marauder" technology is the sub-title for the movie I expected to see alot more of them.

Less subtle even than part 1, and not as good a movie, but still enjoyable and decent in its own right. The song that comes with it really brings the parody home. Plus it's got new types of bugs, so if for nothing else you could still see it for that...

"Starship Troopers 3" has a few fun moments but overall it just doesn't work. Forgiving a low budget film for the lack of cutting-edge effects is basically a must (realistically you can't expect someone with 20 million to generate something that looks as good as someone who has 100 million) but there are a lot of mistakes during the big battle scenes, like missing bullet shells from the guns, missing smoke and lights from the weapons and missing wounds the arachnids, who squirm and scream while the soldiers shoot at them but don't actually seem to get injured before falling over dead. The movie's biggest selling point the "Marauders" (giant mechanical battle suits) are in the film only for a few minutes and when they do appear they don't do a lot, they simply walk around reducing mounds of bugs to ashes and are pretty useless to the plot. You don't see them wielding weapons, jumping around and tearing bugs to shreds with their bare hands or anything and they feel like ships more than walking death machines that have the ability to grasp weapons.

The film continues with the satirical approach to fascism but in this case it's way too over-the-top, with a singing, dancing "Sky Marshall" that is also a pop star feeling really out of place. There are other silly additions to the film in efforts to make the movie feel more "futuristic" (like executioners ropes that look like they have black hoses over them) and they are more distracting than convincing. The acting is bad (a scene where we see people being executed stands out but the speaking performances aren't very good either) the dialogue is cheesy and makes it seem like characters have a few catch phrases they like to repeat over and over instead of being real people.

There are some interesting additions to the film, like a couple of new species of insects and a side plot with religion as a propaganda tool that's interesting as well but everything about the movie screams "cash in". The film makers don't really have a story that was so good it needed to be told, they just have a property that they know will bring them money regardless of how bad the movie is. If you're a hardcore fan of "Starship Troopers" but didn't really understand why you liked the first movie so much you might get some enjoyment out of this but it's a bad sci-fi movie. Hate shit remakes which don't follow the plot with the original actors from the first film, bore off.

Starship Troopers: Marauder is relatively bland. The story never becomes magnificent or unique. There are a few catchy battles but as a whole this film is quite dull.
