Would the producers please just get out of the way and let Todd Phillips direct the darn movie?

Wilson-Stiller comedy revamps a 1970s TV show for a few laughs -- but just a few.

Starsky & Hutch might seem funnier if the Naked Gun movies hadn't already parodied cop show cliches or if the writers had bothered to go beyond the hey-wouldn't- it-be- funny-if conversation and invented some things that actually are funny.

Judging by the looks of Todd Phillips' tired Starsky and Hutch, it appears that 70s nostalgia has finally run its course.

Had the script actually had a direction it would've helped.

No one involved with Starsky & Hutch actually seems to care about the movie.

It's basically a time killer with a lot of forgettable jokes that go on way too long many times...

I wish that director/co-writer Todd Phillips...could have come up with something a little smarter than this nonsense.

Comedy is difficult. Good comedies are rare. "Starsky & Hutch" has three noteworthy moments, one of which involves a horse mistakenly gunned down at a bat mitzvah. Hilarious.

Todd Phillips is the succubus of filmmakers. I can only assume that's how he keeps getting jobs. By giving them.

For every solid rib tickler, there are about three bits that make the film's brief running time seem a lot longer.

Any resemblance between the original -- and fun! -- 1970's TV series and this in-name-only Todd Phillips's dud is entirely accidental.

...inoffensive, sometimes charming, and often irritatingly dull. Its satirical jabs are aimed at easy targets, its jokes repetitious or redundant, its pacing a little slow.
