A very lame plot. If I saw this at the cinema I would walk out. Poorly directed, a class of year 7 school children could do better. The two main actors wouldn't look out of place in an episode of the wooden tops. Don't waste any precious minutes of your life watching it....
The color and contrast of both the 3D and 2D was very poor. Most of the film was in drab, dark, subdued scenes. Even the lighted indoor scenes and daylight scenes lacked color and vibrancy. The storyline made no sense until the characters themselves had to explain the plot at the end of the film. I fast-forwarded through parts of the movie that was unbearably slow. Time invested was a waste of time.
A rather typical home-invasion film (think Them, The Strangers, Funny Games, You're Next, etc.) that tries to incorporate an original twist on the genre, Static is a well-made horror film with some decent talent, but it fails to really develop the tension or deliver upon its premise.
Didn't expect a suspense in the very first place. That said, although the vibe is overall above average along the way, it still looks very much familiar in filming plus narrative as tons of other films out of the same genre. The trying-to-be-surprise ending is simultaneously a big turning off however.
Milo Ventimiglia continues to show fans why he is not a force to be wreckened with. The film is boring, dreadfully acted and never keeps a consistent tone. Even the surprise twist won't make you feel as though your time has not been wasted.
A couple still mourning the death of their young son get an unexpected visitor in the form of a young lady who says there are people in gas masks outside after her. Things then get a little out of control from then on. A film that asks you to go along for the slow ride and when its all over ends up going down an interesting path but ultimately does not pay off the way it could have.
This wasn't neither horror or thriller. It was a ghost story with little suspense, with no tension whatsoever. It was very disappointing because it had some good actors like Milo Ventimiglia and Sara Paxton that gave some decent performances, but neither the movie or the script helped them in any way. The twist at the end, that I supposed was to be unexpected, was ridiculous and made no sense. It didn't had the effect they were hoping for, because it wasn't build up correctly. Probably to surprise a few with a random ending.
