Movie Info

A young woman struggles to assert her independence as chaos rises all around her in this drama from Lebanon. It's 1976, and civil war has broken out while Noha (Nadine Labaki) is making plans to marry her fiance John (Nazih Youssef) in a few weeks. Noha is a headstrong woman and her parents are grateful she's finally found a man ready to settle down with her, but Noha is having severe doubts about the union, and she's convinced she doesn't really love John. A few hours before Noha is expected to arrive at an engagement party thrown by her brother Assaf (Badih Bou Chacra), she learns her former boyfriend Joseph (Rodrigue Sleiman) is back in town, and arranges to meet him; however, their brief tryst ends badly, and things get worse when Noha is confronted by the brutality of war as she makes her way back to town to meet her family. Rsasa Taycheh (aka Stray Bullet) was the first feature film from writer and director Georges Hachem, who had previously made a name for himself in the theater. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
