Movie Info

A new documentary film that uncovers the personal, real-life stories of children and parents navigating a rollercoaster of beaurocracy on their journeys through the international adoption system, each filled with hope, elation - and sometimes heartbreak. Filmmaker Thaddaeus Scheel tracks the chapters in the lives of four children, and the families seeking to parent them, revealing along the way the intense hope and disappointment they experience on the odyssey to unite as families. Some stories are heartwarming, showing incredible examples of kids who blossom after joining their families, while others offer insight into the emotional and physical impact institutional life can have on these kids.

While it's hard to concentrate on systemic problems when faced with the rotting teeth of an adorable Vietnamese orphan, it's those very problems that require our most intense scrutiny.

International adoption in the usa has dropped 50% in the past 5 years due to defective political and legal systems. These are some of their happy and tragic stories.

another heart breaking documentary -- but it's such a blessing to know that there are people willing to jump through all of those hoops and have that much patience with the adoption system... it's so sad that there are so many children in orphanages not getting the attention they need.
