The Sky Crawlers is Oshii's finest film since 2001's underrated Avalon and his best animé since the original Ghost in the Shell.

The technically proficient The Sky Crawlers is nice to look at and listen to...but by relying on zombified blank-slate characters, Oshii makes a point at the expense of engagement, much less entertainment. [Blu-ray]
