An alright romance. Chemistry was ok.

7/15/2017 (3): I like this movie and don't quite understand the poor ratings. A really good cast (Hello Jessica Biel!!) and a fun entertaining story.

A strike out looking. A relic of a time when cliched rom-coms were at there most superficial and listless.

What a time to be alive? The late 90s when everyone just felt safer, cellphones where no where to be seen, and the internet wasnt really taken off yet. Collage allstar story that featured at the time Freddie Prince, all the young girls wanted their panties on his floor and Jessica beil who high school boys like to watch get out pool in slow mo because porno was wack at that time and scarce. Young freddie gets rode hard by his dad in a bad way and brittany murphy in a good way. To quote his catcher (also his goofy side kick on scooby doo) You try to mow her lawn and now you want to her mow her lawn". Lawn boy is inspired to play ball by jessica's tush and to chase his dreams. His big brother and childhood friends who always attend his games give him much need great speechs whens it crunch time to help deliver curve balls that although fredie is left handed will break as if he is right handed :) Fun to root against his flame throwing blonde dyded curled punk as he reeks of d-bag odor. Enjoy this baseball classic kids

Ok plot but the chemistry between FPJ and Jessica Biel made me smile after the movie was over.

Lawn boy baseball player meets rich girl and they fall in love in this Bull Durham ripoff for teens.

It strives to aim for cute but drift mostly towards cliche.

Another cliche love story where the young athlete falls in love with the girl of his dreams.

Quite possibly one of the worst movies of all time. I was looking at the worst 100 list, and "MANOS THE HANDS OF FATE" is easily better than this, which seems to me to basically be stock footage off all the other teen sex romps of the past ten years spliced together and repackaged to pay for some studio exec's new mercedes. For your own good, dont see this movie. Read a book instead.

Watchable fluff. It's OK, but don't expect too much. (First viewing - Teen years)

It's bad, it's so bad that it's sad.

Ryan Dunne (Freddie Prinze Jr) is a lawnboy hoping for greener pastures after he joins an elite Cape Cod summer league that's been a career stepping-stone for many big-league players. Tenley Parrish (Jessica Biel) is a wealthy Vassar grad vacationing on the Cape. He loves her. She loves him. But there's a catch. Tenley's family thinks romance with a blue-collar guy is strictly minor-league.

also stars Fred Ward, Jason Gedrick, Matthew Lillard, Brittany Murphy, Gabriel Mann, Bruce Davison, Marc Blucas and Brian Dennehy.

directed by Michael Tollin.

Though it's very predictable, its a greatly pleasurable movie with laughs, solid acting, and an undeniable warm and happy tone.

These kinds of movies make me wonder what filmmakers are thinking. Why would you waste good money or time in making a movie that was so bad? The baseball parts were the only redeeming value to this movie.

lack of chemistry, entertainment, and plenty of predictability.

Okay, so to be perfectly fair, this isn't a great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but it's got a cute female lead (I'd follow Jessica Biel anywhere) and the story is charming if predictable, so I gave this a look originally on cable, and then again the other night off the To-Watch Pile.

Good harmless fun, for what it's worth.

Summer Catch. Freddie Prinze Jr. sucks on his best day. Jessica Biel was actually not bad considering her role for the movie was rich eye-candy. Despite it being a terrible movie in basically all aspects, there are things about it that you cannot help but like. For example, the ball player who loves big women, Matthew Lillard, and Biel's pool scene. If you don't care about baseball or a smokeshow in a bikini then do not bother with Summer Catch. 3.5/10
