As an introduction to the influential cartoon series goes, it's pretty good. The art deco backgrounds and moody lighting would be a trademark of the series, and they still look cool today. Unfortunately, this first installment is hurt a little by some of the more schticky elements, like the vulture. Still, better shorts were to come.

Fleischer studios managed to truly capture the spirit of Superman in these old shorts.

Things we learned:

* Lois Lane can fly a plane.

*You can punch a Death Ray.

Classic Fleischer animation. The Story is lacking, but this is all about the visuals.

The old Fleisher stuff is brilliantly beautifull and nicely retro. Each episode is a perfect encapsulation of the early golden age Siegel Shuster stuff.
