It argues convincingly for sustainability. I'm not sure you could watch this and not think that tuna is doomed without immediate action.

very educational. not just about the art of sushi but about the underline issues of sushi. as in what we (humans) do to the ecosystem with over consuming the delicacies the oceans have offered. very insightful. not sure I will look at eating sushi the same way again

Not quite what I was expecting. Very focused on the environmental impact of sushi, as well as sustainability discussions. Even though it wasn't quite what I was looking for, it was pretty interesting nonetheless.

Very well done, not preachy or condescending, but I learned a lot. This film covers some of the history of sushi, the fishing market of Tsukiji, fishing and shipping of fish around the world, and how our hunger for sushi affects the world's oceans.

A terrific documentary on the rise of sushi as a staple of the world's burgeoning affluent, but also a cautionary tale on the sustainability thereof.

Excellent story of the whole sushi story, particularly the need to be aware of sustainability of fish populations, especially the blue fin tuna. I will always be more aware of the fish I order in sushi restaurants.

Loses a whole star for misleading me. I detest films that say they're one thing so you can watch and then flip it around. The description of this film on Flixster is correct, but Netflix describes it as a History of Sushi film. This has nothing to do with the history of Sushi and is all about a dry one sided view of the extinction of Bluefin Tuna. Don't get me wrong, I actually agree that we are over-fishing BlueFin Tuna to extinction, I agreed with it when I found out about it a decade ago, I agreed with it 3 years ago when I visited Monterey Bay, and I agree with it still. But it wasn't the film I wanted to see. and I can't stand Docs that are just one sided.

A bit of bait and switch going on here--it starts as a documentary about the history and culture of sushi then morphs into the evils of bluefin tuna.

"kaya itu hak semua orang" katanya.. nyatanya planet ini udah gak mampu untuk mengakomodir baru 1 negara Cina yang gaya hidupnya makin kaya. ironis. on another note, mari dari sekarang kita makan sushi secara SUSTAINABLE.

A bit too long getting to the meat (pun intended) of the story but worth seeing.

Presents a complex and intelligent view of the global sushi market....everything from sushi porn (gorgeous shots in the Tokyo fish market) to pop-up sushi. Beautiful film to watch, captivating. Gets you thinking without handing you a simple pat answer.
