[A] pretentiously made and excruciatingly dull thriller.

The movie exhausts its audience rather than entertains it.

[The film] needs more explanation than the director can possibly provide, even if he were to go to every theater in every city and explain its intricacies before every show.

Requires more explanation than a director can possibly provide, even if Merhige was willing to continue his unusual strategy by appearing at a theater near you.

Merhige gets plenty of mileage out of these visions and the creepy, metallic sound design and score, almost managing to snuff out the film's more ordinary attributes.

The film merely winds up being just another depressing exercise that confuses faulty plotting and icky visuals with intelligent filmmaking.

Suspect Zero is somewhat suspenseful in spots, but it is never scary.

Merhige treats the laughable plot as if it were high existential drama. He smothers what might have been a solid B picture in relentless art-house pretension.
