It's not quite up to Seven Beauties, but this unofficial -- more politically charged -- variation on J.M. Barrie's The Admirable Crichton doesn't miss by much.

Audience Reviews for Swept Away (Travolti da un Insolito Destino nell'Azzurro Mare d'Agosto)

Lina Wertmuller masterpiece. I hope people get to see this rarely screened gem and don't confuse it with the Madonna film. For Americans that don't understand the class, political split and overall differences in the Italian culture, this is a crash course. I just wished movies like this would get more play since it's always Fellini, Rossellini and Antonioni that get all all the attention

A cliche, but I was swept away by this beautiful film. Politics, class struggle, gender roles~ a microcosm of life, with and without familiar institutions. Giancarlo Giannini is so very expressive and versatile, readily conveying comedy or tragedy just by the look on his face. This film is rich, but I don't want to analyze it here ~ just enjoy the experience!!!

Hmmm... I don't quite have the words to say how much this movie was completely insane. I don't know for sure if I like it or not. Decisions, decisions.
